Can a mountain man who loves his privacy and a people loving city girl find happiness together? Melissa Foster’s newest book seeks to answer that question. Steve Johnson is a mountain man through and through. He knows the woods forwards and backwards and loves his solitary life. Shannon Braden is a city girl who is spending time in the woods collecting data for a study that she is participating in. They had met at a wedding a few months prior and there was a definite mutual attraction.
Steve is thrown for a loop when Shannon bursts into his quiet little world. She is spunky, sassy and, oh so sexy. His nickname for her is Butterfly as she flits from thing to thing and from place to place. Shannon is drawn to Steve’s burly mountain man exterior and also to his tender heart underneath it all. Can “Grizzly” and “Butterfly” find a way to compromise between their obvious opposite lifestyles? You will have to read the book to find out!
There is a great balance in this book between times of angst and times of sexy fun. The characters are well-developed and you will find yourself laughing at times (watch for Happy Packs and Shmores!) I enjoyed this book and maybe it is true that opposites attract?
B J Harrison is a wonderful narrator with an easy to listen to voice. I have read the print version of the book as well and would highly recommend either version of this book.
Yes! I don't know if a sexier mountain man exists then Steve or as Shannon calls him, Grizz! Shannon, Butterfly to Steve, is a researcher who takes a position researching wolves in Colorado near her uncle and Steve, the mountain man that she wants to be more. Steve is a man that not only lives on the mountain, it is who he is but is he willing to change for the city girl that may have stolen his heart? Shannon and Steve navigate their different lives and find one that might just involve each other. Steve is the ultimate mountain man - he saves wild Hawks, creates detailed maps for Shannon and learns a little about the art of romance and compromise for his Shannon. Shannon is a people person with a love of Pop Tarts and pink boot laces. Together they don't appear to work but they find out how love crushes all of those obstacles and lands a mountain man chilling on the beaches of Maryland and Butterfly living on a mountain in Colorado. You won't be disappointed.
Melissa Foster... seriously?! You cannot write a bad book!
Steve and Shannon are two of my newest favorites in all of her books thus far. Their relationship starts out complicated. With the pressure of distance and the knowledge that Shannon will be moving back to Peaceful Harbor once her research is complete. Steve has been attracted to her from the beginning, but knows that getting involved with her is risky- risky to both of their hearts.
Once they both give in, it is hot hot hot! This book was scorching and had me hooked from the start. Shannon was extremely relatable and I loved connecting with her on a more personal level while reading.
Love visiting Weston! Cannot wait to read the next in the series. Melissa is fantastic!
I also had the opportunity to listen to the audio book and I LOVED it! It is always so fun to get another side of the book you loved so much. The narrator, as always was awesome!
I loved this story so much!!! The audio verision is amazing!!!! I was transpoerted into the story and I couldn't be happier! Enjoy!!!!
Steve and Shannon are the perfect match and I loved seeing them fall in love! Their pet names are too cute and fit their personalities perfectly. There is a lot of heart and humor as well as steam. As a matter of fact, I think this may be the hottest of the Love in Bloom series. Steve is one of the most sensitive and sweet heroes while still being hot and sexy. Can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own.
Ok, I know we say the Braden men are hot, but Steve was HOT! He was masculine, sexy, outdoorsy and last but not least, had a way with words. He had swooning......😜. Shannon wad absolutely adorable and moving and talking about a hundred miles a minute, lol😂. Together they were everything. I loved this story, it was surprisingly funny. As usual, the Braden's were stand up people. Yay....👍
Loved this series but I think this is my favorite! The peaceful life of Steve, a ranger in the Colorado Mountains, is instantly interrupted by Shannon. A recent encounter at a wedding, had both people had lingering memories of each other. Shannon is there temporarily and their simmering heat is combustible with each look. Steve's attempt to keep his distance soon can not stop the unstoppable connection. Their nicknames, add to the steamy story. When Shannon's assignment ends, she has to decide where "home" really is. This is not a book that you can stop reading or put down. Once again, Melissa Foster has a 5 star book!
Steve is TOTALLY AMAZING! Sexy, gorgeous, built like a Mack truck and cares deeply about conservation. Shannon is quirky, smart and is crazy about Steve. Their relationship is enviable and seems like they've been together forever. Reading their story had me happy, sad, holding my breath and feeling the crazy love between them. He's so sincere with a dark sexy side that is delicious! These two take intimacy to a whole new level.
Great writing Melissa Foster! I don't know how she keeps coming up with these amazing characters but keep it up because I'm a very satisfied reader. I also love how these series are connected.
Received a copy via RickStarLit in exchange for an honest review.
I was not compensated for my review.
I was not required to write a positive review.
The opinion expressed is my own.
When you read Melissa Foster's latest Braden novel you will fall in love with them too. This book is just too good to put down. The love scenes are steamy and this is truly a romance. Who would have believed Steve Johnson (Jade's brother), proclaimed mountain man who didn't need people could be so romantic. This story is a must read.
Mom's Cooking The Books
Wow! This was a fun read! This was the first book I have read by this author and I want to go back and read her prior books. This is a stand-alone novel, but can be read as part of a larger series. I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything when I hadn’t read the previous books, but it sure makes me curious to find out how the sparks ignited between Shannon and Steve in the previous books.
Shannon is a vivacious city girl that loves technology and is a people person, and Steve is a mountain man more in tune with nature and really feels technology is more of a hindrance than a help. They met in previous books and most recently at Steve’s sister and Shannon’s cousins wedding and there was a very strong attraction.
Under the encouragement of Shannon’s sister, she takes a temporary research position studying fox habitats and is able to return to Colorado to see if she can pursue this attraction she has for Steve. She can feel the pull and knows he feels it too, but he is resistant to her charms.
“Every minute with Shannon was a battle of self-control, and he was hanging on by a thread. If he kissed her, touched her, let himself do the things he wanted to with her, his feelings would only magnify. He knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, there would be nothing left to hold on to. Nothing to keep his head on straight. Nothing to protect his heart—or hers.”
Steve doesn’t do casual relationships and he knows Shannon is only there temporarily so he tries to resist, but he can’t deny his growing desire for her. Once he finally gives in, wow the chemistry is off the charts and they both fall hard.
This is a sweet and very sexy read and I am not going to give away anymore on their journey, but it was a good one. They work together to try to save the town of Weston from developers and they learn more about themselves and each other along the way. You won’t regret reading this opposites attract love story.
Mountain man, Steve Johnson's kisses should come with a forest fire warning from Smokey the Bear.
Steve is so passionate about everything he does. His work and preserving the land are so important to him.
Shannon is back for Steve and to try and figure out if the life she has is really what she wants.
Sparks were starting to fly at Rex and Jade's wedding. And when Shannon, on another research trip, flies back into Steve's life knocking down his walls he finds he can't resist her any more. He tries to keep his distance, but their attraction is too strong. He's attached to the mountain and she's a beach town city girl. Shannon leaves in a few weeks and therefore they have an expiration date, or do they?
There are so many parts of this book that are amazing, loving and hot. I want to tell you all about them, but I can't. I can tell you this, Steve and Shannon will leave you breathless. You're going to have to buy the book to see what I mean. This is by far one of my favorite books.
Shannon is a city girl, loves being in town, loves people, loves to talk. Steve is a mountain man who loves the peace and quiet. So why can't he get Shannon off his mind? Shannon is in flux about her job, which causes her to spend a lot of time alone. But she's not a loner and finds herself unhappy in her job. When Steve is trying to save Weston from developers, Shannon jumps right in to help him raise money for a conservatory. She also jumps in to see where their feelings may take them. Steve worries that Shannon needs to be in the city--but he just can't live there. Can they figure out how to be together without losing who they each are individually? Find out in the excellent book by Melissa Foster Crushing on Love, her latest in the Braden series!
